Eco Council

We are fortunate to have a thriving Eco Council who, under the guidance of Mrs Hart and Mrs Kearney, have worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to promote the ‘Eco’ message throughout the school. Each year, every class from Primary 5 to Primary 7 elect two representatives from their class to sit on the Eco Council and share the views of all pupils. Pupils on the committee meet regularly and contribute ideas as to how to improve all aspects of our school environment and personal well-being.

Our wildlife garden provides an attractive quiet area for children to enjoy. In the past few years we have also harvested a good crop of herbs, potatoes and lettuce. The Eco Council have also made signs for the garden, created a ‘bug hotel’ and kept the garden areas well populated with additional plants which provides an attractive outside learning area for use in the milder weather.

A particular highlight was being re-awarded our Eco Flag in the 2015-2016 school year and notable highlights included Primary 1 – Primary 3 welly boot planters and a litter pick in the local area by Primary 4 to Primary 7.
